Nature Is
By: Jack Prelutsky
Nature is an endless sky,
the sun of golden light,
a cloud that floats serenely by,
the silver moon of night.
Nature is a sandy dune,
a tall and stately tree,
the waters of a clear lagoon,
the billows on the sea.
Nature is a gentle rain
and winds that howl and blow
a thunderstorm, a hurricane,
a silent field of snow.
Nature is a tranquil breeze
and pebbles on a shore.
Nature's each and all of these
And infinitely more.
Spelling Words:
- endless
- golden
- silver
- sandy
- tall
- stately

Mr. Yes and Mr. No could not decide which way to go
By: Ken Nesbitt
They walked all day. They walked all night.
They first turned left, and then turned right.
But everywhere they ever went
they wound up there by accident
because the two could not agree
on where to go or what to see.
We don't know where they are today.
They've wandered off and gone astray.
And no one has the slightest guess
where Mr. No and Mr. Yes
have ended up and might be found;
perhaps upstairs or underground,
or paddling up the Amazon.
That is to say, they're simply gone.
But if they do turn up one day
I think it might be best if they
decided not to rove and roam,
like Mr. Maybe.
He's at home.

What a Wonderful Kind of Day
By: Ziggy Marley
Everyday when you're walking down the street
And everybody that you meet
Has an original point of view.
And I say, Hey! Hey!
What a wonderful kind of day,
If you can learn to work and play
And get along with each other!
You got to listen to your heart
Listen to the beat, listen to the rhythm
The rhythm of the street
Open up your eyes, open up your ears
Get together and make things better
By working together!
It's a simple message and it comes from the heart
Believe in yourself
Because that's the place to start!

February Twilight
By: Sara Teasdale

As long as it watched me.

Falling Snow
By: Anonymous
See the pretty snowflakes
Falling from the sky
On the wall and housetops
Soft and thick they lie.
On the window ledges
On the branches bare,
Now how fast they gather,
Filling all the air.
Look into the garden,
Where the grass was green,
Covered by the snowflakes,
Not a blade is seen.
Now the bare, black bushes
All look soft and white,
Every twig is laden,
What a pretty sight!

New Year's Day
By: Kenn Nesbitt
Hooray! Hooray! It's New Year's Day
The day we start anew.
So this year I've decided
to become a kangaroo
Or maybe I will learn to fly,
or how to walk through walls,
or how to turn invisible,
or surf on waterfalls
I'll make myself elastic
and I'll teach myself to shrink,
I'll turn into a liquid
and I'll pour me down the sink.
I'll visit other planets
and meet aliens galore.
I'll travel to the distant past
and ride a dinosaur.
I've got so many wondrous plans.
I'm starting right away.
Yes, this will be the best year yet.
Horray! It's New Year's Day!

Well, I don't know if there'll be snow
But have a cup of cheer

Say hello to friends you know
And everyone you meet

Frosty the Snowman
Frosty the Snowman was a jolly, happy soul,
with a corn cob pipe
and a button nose
And two eyes ,ade out of coal.
Frosty the Snowman is a fairy tale they say,
he was made of snow
but the children know
How he came to be that day.
There must have been some magic
in that old silk hat they found
for when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around!
Oh, Frosty the Snowman was alive as he could be
and the children say
he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me!

A Leaf 10/21
by Aileen Fisher
If I were a leaf
(but I wouldn't be!)
I'd have to be tied
To a tree, tree, tree.
I couldn't walk off
(or skip or run)
and my nose would get burned
by the sun, sun, sun.
In summer, I'd roast
(in winter, I'd freeze)
and all through October
I'd sneeze, sneeze, sneeze!
